DMX’s battle with substances stemmed from the age of 14. Fame and success only made things worst for the rapper who struggled for decades to maintain his sobriety and mental health. On April 2nd, 2021, DMX was found unresponsive. The rapper was rushed to a hospital where he laid in a vegetative state with “lung and brain failure and no brain activity.” By April 9th, several other major organs stopped functioning, and he was pronounced dead at the age of 50.
It’s been over one year since DMX’s passing and Stacey Dash is just learning about it – so where has she been? The clueless actress is not the in-demand young starlet she once was. The actress has had a hard time in the media in recent years as she’s aligned herself with republican values and is often on the wrong side of discussions surrounding race in America. Recent years have seen her doing less and less work, with only two movies to her IMDB credit between 2021 and 2022. It’s reported that she filed for divorce in 2020 from husband Jeffrey Marty and has been quietly raising her two children since.
Stacey did sit down with Dr. OZ last summer to discuss her own battle with addiction. The actress says that she was addicted to prescription pills and, at one point, was spending $10k a month. She attributed her reliance on substances to a lifetime of trauma that began at a very young age and followed her throughout her adulthood. Dash says that her choice to be transparent about her issues was a direct result of her wanting to be a better example for her kids so that they do not follow in her footsteps. Dash says that both her parents faced the same issues as well, and she did not want her kids to follow in her footsteps. It was actually her mother who got her started when she was 16.
